Nicolas Jackson was at his goalscoring best on Monday night, as Chelsea beat Tottenham 4-1 away from home.

The Senegal international, who arrived from Villarreal over the summer bagged three goals against one of Chelsea’s fiercest rivals, to help them to an important win this season.

It might well have been five goals on the night for the striker, had he been more clinical with his finishing.

Speaking to the official Chelsea website after the game, Jackson said: “I have been dreaming of this since I was young and I made it come true.

“I’m very happy. It is my first hat-trick. It was an intense game. We play football for these kinds of games.

“I was running behind the defence. They had it well organised. Their goalkeeper surprised me, he is quick! Maybe we could have scored three more, he helped them a lot, but we had the players to provide for us at the right time. We did that and scored four goals.

“Even with 11 we said this was a game we had to win. They scored early and they had confidence, but we came back stronger. We are working really hard to win, and we did. Now we continue working.”

Jackson becomes the first Chelsea star to score a hat-trick in a game against Spurs since Samuel Eto’o did so in 2014. He is also the first Blue to score three goals against Spurs away from Stamford Bridge since Tore Andre Flo did the same in a 6-1 win back in 1997.
