Mauricio Pochettino masterminded a 4-1 win with Chelsea as he returned to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday night. It was the Argentine’s first return to a ground where he made his name as a football manager.
Prior to the game, Poch was unsure of the reception he was going to get, telling reporters in a pre-game interview: “Hopefully, I can stay here [at Chelsea] until I die!
“20 or 25 years, but you never know in football. It [Tottenham] is a club, for sure if I’m not working, maybe if they want me one day, why not?
“Who knows? It’s a club like Southampton or Espanyol or Newell’s Old Boys. It’s like life, you never know what is going to happen tomorrow.”
However, it wasn’t at all a bad return for Pochettino, who was cheered by most of the home crowd just before kick-off.
There were of course, some boos once the game started from those, who now see the 51-year-old as a rival after he took over at Chelsea, but it was nothing too bad, and we are sure the Blues’ manager will have been delighted with his return.
