Barcelona left-back, Marcos Alonso has made a declaration, following the Blues’ 4-1 win against Tottenham on Monday night.
Spurs took the lead very early in the game when Dejan Kulusevski’s deflected shot found its way into Robert Sanchez’s goal.
The hosts kept up the pressure against Chelsea, and nearly got a second moments later, but Heung-min Son’s tap-in from close range was disallowed for offside.
As the game wore on, Chelsea grew into it, and got their equaliser after half-an-hour. Cristian Romero was shown a straight red for a reckless challenge on Enzo Fernandez inside his own box, and Cole Palmer stepped up to dispatch the resulting penalty.
Raheem Sterling and Moises Caicedo also had goals disallowed in the first half, for a handball and an offside, respectively.
The second half saw Spurs reduced to nine men, after Destiny Udogie was shown a second yellow card for fouling Sterling, and from there the game swung in Chelsea’s way, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side scoring three more goals through Nicolas Jackson to clinch the win.
After the clash, ex-Chelsea man, Alonso couldn’t contain his joy, and happily took to his ‘X’ account to declare that ‘London is Blue’.
Alonso spent six years at Stamford Bridge before he moved to Barcelona in 2022, and recorded three goals and three assists from his matches against Tottenham while at Chelsea.
