Tottenham boss, Ange Potescoglu has said he doesn’t expect fans of the club to be hostile towards Mauricio Pochettino when the Argentine leads Chelsea to face them on Monday night.

Pochettino managed Spurs for years before he was sacked for Mourinho in 2019. He led them to the UEFA Champions League final where they lost to Liverpool, and came close to winning the Premier League on occasions.

Some Spurs fans are not happy that Poch agreed to manage a rival club, but Potescoglu insists the 51-year-old deserves a lot of respect.

He told reporters: “I doubt there will be anything but respect for Mauricio from anyone at this football club, supporters or people associated, but it doesn’t mean he will get a guard of honor on Monday night because we want to win.

“I don’t think he would expect that, but his tenure here and impact here is undeniable, and it will stand the test of time.

“Whenever people think of Mauricio and his time here as manager, they will only look upon it with respect and fondness.

“He almost took the club to the ultimate summit of the Champions League, got close to the league, so his work is unquestioned.

“Everyone I speak to around here, there are still people who worked with him, they can’t speak highly enough of him as a person and as a manager.”
