Mauricio Pochettino has said he won’t be celebrating a goal against his former side— Tottenham when he takes Chelsea to play them on Monday night.
The game will mark the first time Pochettino will return to the Spurs stadium since he was sacked as their manager in 2019.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of the game later on Monday, Poch said his decision not to celebrate a goal against his former club isn’t because he has a loyalty to them, but because it’s just not really in his nature to celebrate goals, adding that he only cares about taking maximum points from each game.
He said: “If you see me, I am so quiet on the touchline. Normally it is difficult for me to celebrate goals, I am more focused on the game. When you win the game you celebrate.”
It is however, important to point out that the Argentine spent five whole years with Tottenham before he left to join Paris Saint-Germain, and there may be an underlying attachment to them.
Ultimately, though, all that matters is Chelsea winning, as that would see the Blues move back into the top half of the Premier League table.
