Thiago Silva has been a rock at the back for Chelsea since his move from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.
Barring injuries, the Brazilian has been an ever-present feature in the Blues’ starting XI since then, playing under managers like Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Frank Lampard, and now, Mauricio Pochettino.
Despite being 39, Silva continues to work hard for Chelsea, which explains the undiluted love he receives from the fans.
Silva recently spoke with The Guardian UK, and amongst the things the centre-back talked about was his relationship with Pochettino, and how the Argentine has helped him become better physically.
“Pochettino has helped me a lot with my fitness,” said the former AC Milan and PSG star.
“Not that I was complacent but I was in my comfort zone. It looks like everything is fine, and it feels fine, but he managed to get me out of that area.”
Pochettino appears to be close to quite a good number of players in the Chelsea squad, and that is a good thing because it obviously speaks to the unity in the team. Silva is however, not as young as he used to be, and Poch and his team must begin to scratch their heads over how to replace him in the near future.
