Benoit Badiashile was amongst the goalscorers as Chelsea cruised to a 2-0 victory against Blackburn on Wednesday night.

The Frenchman, who had been away with an injury since May, found the net in the first half to hand the Blues a narrow 1-0 lead, before Raheem Sterling made it 2-0 from the edge of the Blackburn box after capitalising on a lose ball from their own players.

Badiashile couldn’t play the entirely of the match due to precaution from Mauricio Pochettino’s side, but the centre back was delighted to have been a part of the game at Stamford Bridge.

‘I’m so happy to be able to help the team with this goal,’ Badiashile said, as quite by the official Chelsea website. ‘It has been a difficult period for me because I’ve not been on the pitch, but I’m very happy to now be back with the team.’

Badiashile played in the heart of the Blues’ defence, alongside ex-Monaco teammate, Axel Disasi, and admitted it felt good to be partnering the 25-year-old again.

‘It was so good because we know each other very well,’ explained Badiashile. ‘It was easy for me to play alongside him because I did so for a long time [at Monaco]. He is a close friend so I am happy.’
