Former Aston Villa forward, Darren Bent has picked Aston Villa manager, Unai Emery as a better coach than Mauricio Pochettino.

Emery has been at the helm at Villa since last year, following the sacking of Steven Gerrard. During his time at Villa Park, the Spaniard has picked up an impressive 23 wins from 46 matches across all competitions, with Villa currently sitting in fifth place on the Premier League table.

Pochettino, on the other hand, only recently returned to the Premier League after he was appointed Chelsea manager at the end of last campaign. The Argentine has managed Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the last few years. The 51-year-old also has three trophies to his name— eight less than his Villa counterpart has amassed over the years.

During a recent appearance on talkSPORT, Bent picked Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp as the top two managers in the Premier League, after which he went for Emery as the third-best.

Asked whether Emery was better than Pochettino, the former England international said: “Yeah.”

Chelsea may be 11th on the log at the moment, but it certainly doesn’t take anything away from the managerial know-how of Pochettino. The ex-PSG coach has shown over the years, that he is a top manager, who can bring out the best in his players.
