Chelsea may be pulling closer to signing Rayan Cherki from Lyon in January.
The Blues have been monitoring the 20-year-old for some months now, and reportedly made a move to sign him over the summer, but Lyon were unwilling to sell.
However, Le Parisien now claims that Cherki has been having problems with Lyon head coach, Fabio Grosso, and that may impact his future at the Ligue One side.
It is reported that Lyon have now changed their mind about Cherki, meaning that Chelsea could succeed if they try for a second time.
Cherki has been playing for Lyon since he was 16 after breaking into the senior team.
Speaking recently of the Frenchman, Grosso told RMC Sport: “I was aware of Rayan Cherki before his performance in the Espoirs [France Under-21s] match. He possesses extraordinary potential, and everyone hopes he can translate that potential into consistent performance.”
