Shaun Wright-Phillips has reflected on his experience while playing under Jose Mourinho during their time together at Chelsea.
Mourinho is regarded by many, as Chelsea’s greatest manager in history after the successes he enjoyed during his first and second spells in charge at the Bridge.
The Portuguese won the Premier League (3), FA Cup (1), and the League Cup (2) during his Chelsea reign. He also won the FA Community Shield once.
Wright-Phillips, who joined Chelsea for £21m in 2005 spent three years at Stamford Bridge, winning the league title in the process, and when asked about his time with Mourinho in a recent interview, the former winger said (via Daily Star): “Mourinho just knew what he wanted.
“He made decisions quickly, never hesitated and in some ways you might say he made impulsive decisions. He seen something that nobody else saw.”
Wright-Phillips, who returned to Manchester City in 2008, also revealed who his favorite manager of all was, handing the honour to ex-Stoke and City boss, Mark Hughes.
“The manager I get asked most about is Jose Mourinho. Everyone wants to know what he was like especially at that time when Chelsea were doing so well. Although I would say though that my favourite manager was probably Mark Hughes when I went back to City. He was amazing.”
