Chelsea endured a disappointing outing when they faced Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Blues, fresh off an impressive 2-2 draw with Arsenal two weeks ago, were expected to add more points to the bag when they welcomed Thomas Frank’s side to Stamford Bridge over the weekend.
However, despite carving out numerous opportunities— chiefly through Cole Palmer, Chelsea could not break down the Brentford defence, and instead, ended up conceding twice in the second half to suffer their fourth loss of the campaign.
Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo were the goalscorers for the Bees, who have now won their last three visits to the Bridge.
Marc Cucurella, along with Axel Disasi has been blamed for his lack of awareness and communication in the build-up to Brentford’s first goal, but regardless of the criticism, the 25-year-old left-back has been named in Sofascore’s Premier League Team of the Week.
To be fair, in our opinion, the Spaniard was impeccable for most of the clash on Saturday, and even made some good runs into the box, which might have resulted in a goal on a different occasion; so maybe his recent accolade is well-deserved.
