Mykhailo Mudryk has been told he must continue to fight for his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI, by improving on his performances.

Mudryk appears to have started delivering the goods for Chelsea, having moved from Shakhtar Donetsk back in January.

The Ukrainian already has two goals for the Blues this season, and while SWP believes the winger is getting better, he has urged him to keep improving.

“I think he is heading in the right direction, those two goals will help him massively and people might say the one against Arsenal was lucky – so what?” he told Express Sport via Betway.

“It’s in the back of the net. For his confidence, that will do him the world of good and playing at Stamford Bridge in a team that isn’t doing well, isn’t easy.”

“He is learning that now and in some ways it is good that it is happening now rather than later,” Wright-Phillips added.

“Because he knows what it takes now and he has got to stay at that level consistently. The fans will demand it and so will the manager.

“One thing you can’t do is not run around and make a nuisance for yourself and not fight for the club. He seems to be doing all those things so I think he will get better.”
