Thiago Silva sends ‘strong’ message after Brentford defeat

Thiago Silva has promised to remain strong and keep fighting, following the poor result Chelsea suffered last weekend.

The Blues were condemned to a disappointing 2-0 defeat by Brentford, despite creating enough chances to win it, especially in the first half.

Summer recruit, Cole Palmer pulled the strings from midfield— with Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk missing through injury— and provided his attacking teammates with some wonderful opportunities to get ahead in the first half.

Marc Cucurella, Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling all came close to scoring, but they somehow, just managed to miss the goalpost.

After the restart, Brentford appeared more determined to get something from the game— and did, as Ethan Pinnock nodded his side into the lead in the 58th minute.

Bryan Mbeumo then doubled the visitors’ advantage with just seconds from the final whistle, after Robert Sanchez strayed off his post to go and assist his teammates with a corner.

The result is a setback in Chelsea’s quest to challenge for a top-four place this season, although, Silva has vowed to keep going.

Taking to his ‘X’ account on Sunday, the Brazilian wrote alongside a photo of himself from the loss to Brentford: “The strong gets  discouraged. The strong is sad.

“The strong suffer. The strong gets tired, but he never gives up.”

Chelsea will play Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup next, and fans will be hoping for a better outcome.
