AS Roma are reportedly working on plans to permanently sign Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea.
The Serie A side took the Belgian on a season-long loan deal over the summer, and he has been scoring for fun, with eight goals already so far this season.
It has been reported that Chelsea have already set a price at which they want to sell Lukaku next summer, and the fee stands around £37m.
It’s however unclear whether Roma want to pay that much for the player, as Italian outlet, Calciomercato claims that they may be considering adding Tammy Abraham to the deal.
Abraham left Chelsea for Roma in 2021, but he may have lost his spot to Romelu Lukaku this season.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea playmaker, Joe Cole recently questioned the Blues decision to offload Lukaku during the summer transfer window.
Chelsea have struggled to score goals this season, and Cole thinks Lukaku might have been the solution for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
“You here all the buzz words around the club but at the end of the day, we can’t score goals,” Cole told TNT Sport.
“With Romelu Lukaku, for all of his faults, he was in the door. He was a success at Inter Milan, he scored goals at Everton and West Brom in this country, why couldn’t he score goals at Chelsea? What was wrong [with him?]
“He is scoring goals now for Roma. So we have to look within ourselves, what is wrong with this club at the moment?
“I don’t blame the manager one bit. Him and his staff are doing everything they can and I don’t even blame the players. They are all top players.
“The squad is unbalanced, but there is something wrong fundamentally with the club at the moment.”
