Mauricio Pochettino has told Robert Sanchez he needs to learn to deal with certain situations to thrive as a goalkeeper at a club like Chelsea.
Sanchez has been involved in a number of bad goalkeeping moments since he arrived at Chelsea in the summer, most notably in the games against Arsenal and Brentford.
The former Brighton goalie was caught off guard in no man’s land, as Brentford scored their second goal during the 2-0 win over the Blues on Saturday, after he’d gone upfield to help his teammates with a corner. Sanchez also misplaced a pass against Arsenal, which led to the Gunners scoring their first goal in the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge over a week ago.
Queried about his goalie’s inconsistent form by TNT Sports, Pochettino said: “I think it’s about getting experience.
“He wants to be a keeper here at Chelsea and to be at a big club you need to deal with these situations. Helping is giving our confidence and trust to him and of course, working hard every day.”
