Premier League great, Peter Crouch has told Chelsea they need to sign a more proven striker in order to advance their cause this season.

Jackson joined the Blues from Villarreal over the summer after impressing in the final weeks of the 2022-23 La Liga campaign.

The forward has however not had things very easy since he moved to Stamford Bridge, netting just three times across all competitions so far.

There have been speculations that Chelsea could attempt to sign suspended Brentford forward, Ivan Toney in January, and Crouch believes the England International may be the answer to Chelsea’s attacking issues.

He told TNT Sport: “I like him; I think he’s good, but I don’t think he’s the answer.

“I think with Chelsea, as they did against Arsenal, I don’t think he’s the answer. I think they need a traditional No. 9; they’ve had Drogba as the main one in recent times, but now they’ve been linked with Ivan Toney.

“If they can go out and get him, then that’d be absolutely perfect for them because what they have around them is perfect.”
