Premier League all-time leading goalscorer, Alan Shearer has predicted that Chelsea will not be playing Champions League football again, next season.
The Blues failed to qualify for this season’s tournament after finishing 12th last term. However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men appear to still be dealing with familiar problems this season, as they have struggled to score goals despite creating chances.
Chelsea are currently 11th on the league table, 11 points behind fourth-placed Liverpool after their 2-0 defeat to Brentford last weekend, and Shearer can’t see how they can recover.
The former Newcastle United striker told The Rest Is Football podcast: “I tell you who won’t be getting in the top four, Chelsea! They were really poor. Poor in the final third.
“They are now talking about [Christopher] Nkunku being back with him being injured but he’s not really a centre forward is he, so that is going to put unnecessary pressure on him. If anyone had Chelsea in and around the top four, I don’t see that happening at all.”
