Reece James was missing from the starting XI when the teamsheet for Chelsea’s clash with Brentford was released on Saturday.
As revealed by Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the game, the right-back started from the bench, and came on in the second-half, as Chelsea went in search of a winner.
However, despite his introduction, Chelsea still lost the game to Brentford, with the visitors even adding a second in added time.
The Brentford defeat was only James’ 11th match for Chelsea in this calendar year. This is because the 24-year-old has been injured often during his senior Chelsea career.
James’ 11 games for Chelsea have all came under different coaches as well, with the Blues yet to win a game with their captain on the pitch.
Out of those 11 games, Chelsea have lost five, and drawn six.
James will be hoping for an upturn in his fortunes with Chelsea when they play Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
