Mauricio Pochettino has chosen to be coy about Conor Gallagher’s contract situation at Chelsea.

The 23-year-old captained his side in their 2-0 loss to Brentford on Saturday.

Gallagher has gradually become a fan favourite, after throwing in some fantastic displays this season.

The player is out of contract soon, but Chelsea are yet to begin talks for an extension.

Asked to speak on Gallagher’s contract situation, Pochettino told reporters: “It is like a marriage between the player and club, both sides need to feel good and that is why this moment you can arrive at a new deal.

“Even if you want to extend the contract, you stop and speak. Of course, he is a player that is doing fantastic. We are so happy with how he is doing.”
