Chelsea dropped three massive points at home against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, despite their best efforts to win the game.
The Blues began the game the better of both sides, and came close to taking the lead during the early exchanges when Noni Madueke hit the post in the first half. The England youth international, cutting in from the right, hit a powerful shot towards the Brentford goal, only to be denied by the post.
Marc Cucurella and Raheem Sterling were also presented with brilliant opportunities to put Chelsea ahead in the first half, but they both failed to find the target.
The second half was relatively more disjointed from Chelsea, who struggled to break down the stubborn wall that Brentford set up in front of their goal. Instead, it was the Bees who got their noses in front through Ethan Pinnock in the 58th minute.
In a bid to get something out of the game, Chelsea threw everything at the visitors, with Robert Sanchez also getting forward to try and get something out of a late corner, only for Brentford to get another goal— with Bryan Mbeumo finishing off a devastating counterattacking move in the 96th minute.
The Blues have now slipped down to 11th on the league table, but that could still change with more games to come later this weekend.
