Paul Merson has reiterated his belief in Cole Palmer to become a world-class player at Chelsea.

Palmer joined the Blues from Manchester City over the summer for a fee of around £40m.

The 21-year-old has so far, proven to be a bargain, having impressed in every game he has featured in since his arrival.

Palmer already has two goals and three assists for Chelsea at this stage of the season, and Merson is certain he can only get better.

The former Arsenal star wrote about Palmer in his Sportskeeda column: “I said it when they signed him that Cole Palmer was a good player and he has shown in recent weeks that he’s very much a player for the present and the future.

“He can unlock defences as he’s used to training like that at Manchester City and has done really well in recent weeks.”
