Cole Palmer has admitted he’s a little worried he could be benched for Chelsea’s next match after he accidentally flung a water bottle at Mauricio Pochettino.

The incident took place during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal, after the Gunners scored their second goal of the evening.

Palmer was drinking water when Leandro Trossard tapped in from the far left of Robert Sanchez’s goal, and out of anger, he threw away the bottle. The attacking midfielder however says he already apologised to Poch for the error.

“When they scored their second goal I was getting a drink,” admitted Palmer (per the official Chelsea website).

“I went to throw the bottle away, as you do, but didn’t look.

“I just saw it loop dead slow and hit the gaffer. I said sorry to him and apologised properly after the game. Hopefully he won’t drop me for that!

“We get on well. I try to show him every day in training what I can do. Work hard and just try to repay him because he puts a lot of faith in us.”
