Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta has admitted he was saddened by the penalty decision that was given against his side during Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea raced to a 15th minute lead after William Saliba was penalised for using his hand to block Mykhailo Mudryk’s goal-bound effort, and Cole Palmer clinically dispatched the resulting spot-kick.
The Ukrainian added a second just moments into the second half, before goals from Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard earned the Gunners a point.
“I already mentioned what I think to the ref and I got booked [for protesting post-match] so I prefer not to comment on that,” Arteta said when asked about the Saliba incident, as quoted by Football London.
When pressed further, the Spaniard added: “The law is clear as well in where the ball has to be in relation to the action.
“It’s very close and it’s impossible to jump without lifting your hands. Mechanically it’s impossible.”
