Ex-Chelsea midfielder, Juan Mata has revealed he learned a lot while playing alongside Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge.

Mata and Torres arrived at Chelsea in the same year (2011), and they shared a great understanding between themselves on and off the pitch.

After his arrival from Liverpool, Torres struggled to score goals regularly for Chelsea, and was something of a target for rival fans, who trolled him with each opportunity they got while his countryman, Mata, was an instant success at the Bridge until his departure in 2014.

However, despite all of his struggles in front of goal, Torres was seen as someone to learn from by Mata, who recently share more insight on their friendship while they were at Chelsea.

“I consider him one of my best friends in my career (Fernando Torres). He was older, and he was more experienced,” said Mata, as quoted by the official Chelsea website.

“He was a very important player; he was always giving me and the others advice.

“He was very important for all of us, and I learned so much from him,” finished the Champions League winner.
