Sky Sports journalist, Joe Shread has lauded Chelsea’s improvement under Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino took over the reigns as Chelsea manager just before pre-season, following the sacking of Graham Potter and the departure of Frank Lampard, who took over from the ex-Brighton boss on an interim basis.
The Blues had arguably their worst season in decades last term, finishing 12th on the league table, and failing to qualify for any of the UEFA competitions.
This season has appeared to be a similar story, with Chelsea only managing four wins from their first nine matches across all competitions.
The last three wins came off the back of each other however, and Sky Sports reporter, Shread believes the signs are good.
He wrote for Sky Sports: “Anybody watching Chelsea closely this season would have been able to see the positive impact Mauricio Pochettino has made since taking charge.
“The results – just two wins from their first seven games – may not have backed it up, but Pochettino’s Chelsea are easier on the eye than either of Graham Potter or Frank Lampard’s sides.
“Whereas Chelsea’s underlying numbers last season showed they were nothing more than a mid-table team, the former Tottenham boss has generated clear improvements all over the pitch.”
