Robert Sanchez has expressed his delight in winning the Premier League Save of the Month for September.
The Spaniard beat six other goalies in the league to win the keenly contested award.
The award came courtesy of his phenomenal save in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last month.
The Villans could have inflicted an even worse defeat on Chelsea, but Sanchez spared his side’s blushes.
After receiving the award on Friday, Sanchez was asked whether he would now target the Golden Glove award, to which he said: “That’s the aim!’
He also opened up on the save itself, adding: “It was a game with a lot of saves in it, I did a similar save five minutes before that one, left-footer, volley, so I was getting ready for a similar shot.
“There were a lot of bodies in the way as well, so I just got ready, tried to see the ball and react to it. It’s a personal trophy, it’s an amazing feeling, but now it’s time to get some team awards as well.”
