The Chelsea board has made a change to their transfer policy, according to journalist, Fabrizio Romano.

The Chelsea board has decided to involve the coach — in this case, Mauricio Pochettino, in transfer decisions going forward.

This was not the case in the past, when the board usually identified and signed the players they believed fit into the long-term plans of the club. However, Romano reports that they have changed that policy, and moving ahead, Pochettino will be involved in deciding which players arrive at Stamford Bridge.

The change is expected to take effect immediately, which means that in January, the players that come in will be players Pochettino wants to see in his side.

It is also claimed that for now, no real targets have been identified for the January transfer window, but when that happens, Pochettino will be involved, together with the Chelsea board, in making the final decision.
