Mauricio Pochettino and Noni Madueke have reportedly resolved their issue, following the manager’s public criticism of the winger for partying while injured.
Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV in January, has struggled to nail a regular place in the squad— partly due to an injury he sustained earlier this season.
However, while nursing the muscle problem, a video of the 21-year-old out partying surfaced online, which led to him being slammed by Pochettino.
The Argentine said of Madueke’s behaviour: “It is clear. This video, we were talking about that with him. I think it is a thing that we need to avoid.
“All the players need to know that when we are a player of Chelsea to try to avoid these things. It wasn’t a big issue but we always need to avoid these types of situations.
“I think it is really clear that he needs to avoid it. But he is recovering from the national team and we will see if he is fit and can be involved and selected. But we talk about what you are asking me because it is a thing that the young players need to improve on. Not only him. Many, many players need to be professional and to have respect because of the badge we have here.”
However, according to Caught Offside, the Chelsea boss and Madueke have resolved their issue, and there’s no grudge left on either party over the matter.
The Blues’ player was in fact, a substitute as Chelsea beat Fulham 2-0 last week. He was also on the bench when Pochettino’s men hammered Burnley 4-1 on Saturday.
All things being equal, Madueke is expected to continue to be a part of Pochettino’s plans for Chelsea, as the Blues look to continue their fine form over the last three matches.
