Christopher Nkunku was delighted to see his new teammates fight back, as Chelsea crushed Burnley 4-1 in their own backyard.

Wilson Odobert handed the Clarets the lead in the early stages of the game, but Chelsea got level just before the break after Ameen Al-Dakhil turned a Raheem Sterling shot into his own goal.

Sterling further terrorised the Burnley defence as the second half got underway, and it wasn’t long before he was fouled in the hosts’ penalty area, just as he attempted to force his way down the left side. The ensuing penalty kick was clinically dispatched by Cole Palmer, who opened his Chelsea account after a series of good displays for the Blues.

Sterling scored Chelsea’s third after he was set up by Conor Gallagher, to crown what was a memorable display in Chelsea colours, before Nicolas Jackson added another to make it 4-1.

Nkunku was undoubtedly happy with what he saw from his new teammates, and didn’t hesitate to celebrate the win via social media. Reposting a post from the official Chelsea Instagram account on his own page, the Frenchman wrote: “Big win!! [heart eyes emoji and green tick emoji]”.

Nkunku is currently injured after joining Chelsea from RB Leipzig in the summer, but the forward has made some progress over the last two months, and fans will be hoping he can make a return to competitive football before the end of the year.
