Jason Cundy has opined that Cole Palmer is a better signing than Kai Havertz was for Chelsea.
Palmer was signed from Manchester City as Chelsea’s last acquisition of the summer transfer window, as Mauricio Pochettino sought to add some more firepower to his side.
The former City man has shown incredible talent in his first few games for the Blues, and was involved as Chelsea picked up a valuable 4-1 win away at Burnley on Saturday afternoon, scoring a goal, and picking up an assist in the process.
In contrast, ex-Chelsea star, Havertz never quite showed the same brilliance during his three-year stint at Stamford Bridge, despite popping up with some important goals for the Blues before his sale to Arsenal this summer, and Cundy is positive Palmer will bring more to Chelsea than the German did.
Asked by fellow talkSPORT presenter if Palmer was an upgrade on Havertz, Cundy replied: “Completely!
“When you look at what Cole Palmer is bringing, he’s turning into the player we hoped Havertz would be.
“He’s playing in a slightly different position, but he’s the player we hoped Havertz would turn into. At the moment he looks a class act.”
