Burnley boss, Vincent Kompany has rued his side’s loss to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.

The Clarets were smashed 4-1 by a resurgent Chelsea side at Turf Moor, despite going 1-0 up earlier in the first half.

After the game, Kompany blamed the defeat on their poor start to the second half.

The Belgian manager said: “I think it’s the story of the game. Games are 95 minutes now and you have to be good for all of it.

“We had a solid first half and started really strong, but in the second half and the way we conceded and giving the penalty away is just a really bad start to a second half.

“At half-time we wanted to refocus and put ourselves back to the task in the second half and those small details matter in this league.

“Eventually you’ll get results, but after what looked to be a strong start it didn’t materialise and we have to learn from it. We’re working on this but it today hurt us.”

He added: “There’s no quicker way for us to learn than to get out there and learn on the pitch.

“We know there’s a gap between us and the top top teams but if you go like you did in the first half you give yourselves a chance.”
