Mauricio Pochettino has revealed the reason he opted to start Raheem Sterling in the 4-1 win against Burnley despite Mykhailo Mudryk being available to play from the beginning of the game.
Mudryk was injured in the 2-0 win against Fulham on Monday, but the Ukrainian recovered on time to get a place in the starting XI against Burnley, however Poch opted to start Sterling ahead of the Ukrainian.
Explaining his decision ahead of the 3pm kick-off, the Chelsea boss said: “With Misha, after Monday, [against Fulham] he played 45 minutes and then he felt something in his quad.
“He is fully recovered now, but we felt we shouldn’t take a risk with him so he starts on the bench with the potential to come on and make an impact for us.
“Raheem comes in after overcoming a recent virus and we know what he can offer us from the start. We do not need to change the tactics, we just change one good player for another.”
