Former Chelsea coach Frank Lampard has admitted that the present struggles which Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is going through, didn’t come as a surprise to him.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder who was in charge of the team for the second half of last season, stated before Chelsea’s victory over Fulham that: “I’m not completely surprised with their difficulties, having experienced it first hand at the end of last season.

“I came into a club that over eight months had results you do not expect from Chelsea and that’s working with two top managers in Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.

“I felt I could see some of the issues there which was probably confidence because of results – if you do not win at Chelsea it creates that nervousness and maybe some motivation throughout the squad and I think having a big squad, it was unprecedented and it was spoken about a lot.”
