After eleven years at Stamford Bridge, Cesar Azpilicueta finally left Chelsea for Atletico Madrid during the summer.

The defender made 508 appearances for the Blues across all competitions, winning the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the Europa League twice, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

Azpilicueta has admitted it was a hard decision for him to make.

During a chat with Noticias Navarra, Azpilicueta said: “It wasn’t easy to leave Chelsea. 11 years of my life, a very important stage of my career, but everything has a beginning and an end. It was time to make a change.

“I was captain and had the recognition of the fans. I’m very proud of everything we achieved in that time and I am very grateful to the club for everything they did for me.”
