Chelsea striker Armando Broja was the second goal scorer in the 2-0 win over Fulham.
Broja got his goal after the ball deflected off his leg into the net, in an attempted clearance by Fulham defender Tim Ream into the goal post.
It’s been 324 days since the striker’s last start for the Blues against Newcastle, back in November 2022, after which he suffered a severe knee injury in the team’s winter training camp last season.
Broja made his return to the starting XI, and surely made his mark by doubling the lead early in the first half.
“It’s an unbelievable feeling,” said Broja.
“It’s been a long time coming. I’ve been out fora while so it’s good to be back. I’m so happy for the team to win the game and carry on this momentum going forward.
“It’s an even better feeling for myself to get my first goal of the season on my first start, so I’m just thankful.
“It’s amazing. I always dreamed as a little kid of playing in the Premier League and scoring as many goals as I can. It’s just an unbelievable feeling to be on my first start and score in a derby. There’s no better feeling than to get the three points and to score.”
