According to iNews, Newcastle United have joined Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Arsenal in the race to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January.

Brentford insist the England international is not for sale despite reports linking him with a move to various Premier League clubs but it is believed the 27 year old striker wants to leave Brentford in January.

Toney returned to first-team training last week and is said to be looking sharp and motivated as he eyes a run for England’s Euro 2024 squad after narrowly missing out on the World Cup last year.

He hasn’t been able to play this season due to an eight-month ban for betting offences and cannot officially return until 17 January.

Chelsea have made signing a striker a top priority ahead of the January transfer window after scoring just five goals in six Premier League games this season.
