Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has expressed his pleasure in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup 1-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
After a poor start in the English Premier League and a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa last weekend, the Blues bounced back to eliminate Brighton from the Carabao Cup.
Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea the only goal in the game after a superb pass from Cole Palmer in the 50th minute. The Senegalese had a chance to double the scoreline line but was flagged offside.
Pochettino could not help but admit his delight after a long goal drought was brought to an end.
He said “It was a good response from the team; I’m very pleased with the performance again.
“I’m happy for the victory and I think it’s important to go through in the competition, build our trust and the momentum. Hopefully, we can take this momentum into the future.
“It’s never easy to play in the situation and circumstance. Today was a must-win.
“Of course, the uncertainty and sometimes the pressure to win means not to be perfect in our positions [on the pitch]. But I think in the second half we dominated the game and fully deserved the victory.”
