Gallagher gives verdict on Malo Gusto’s dismissal

Chelsea captain Conor Gallagher has expressed his displeasure in the dismissal of his teammate Malo Gusto in the second-half of the clash between Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Following a challenge on Villa player Lucas Digne, Malo Gusto was handed a Red card as the referee reversed his decision of a yellow after a review from the VAR.

The decision seemed to affect Mauricio Pochettino’s side as it didn’t take long for Ollie Watkins to net a goal for Aston Villa.

Gallagher gave his verdict on the decision of the VAR in a Post-match statement, as he believes Gusto got a touch of the ball.

He said: “I didn’t have a great view of the red card, if I’m being totally honest.

“It looked like he’d got the ball but the ref has reviewed it via VAR and decided it should be a red card, so we had to accept that and adapt.

“We did that but then we conceded a goal which made it very difficult to come back from and we are just really disappointed with how the result has played out.”
