Chelsea would have to pay between £50million and £60million if the Blues wish to sign Brentford striker Ivan Toney in January, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The 27-year-old has been unable to represent the Bees so far this season as he is currently in the middle of serving an eight-month suspension for breaching Football Association betting regulations.

Toney, who cannot return to football until January, enjoyed an excellent campaign with Brentford in 2022-23, scoring 20 Premier League goals in 33 appearances to help the Bees secure ninth place.

Toney will have just 18 months left on his Brentford contract in January and the England striker is open to leaving Brentford in January.

Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in signing the 27 year old striker in January.

It is understood that Chelsea are currently leading the race for Toney’s signature, with Mauricio Pochettino keen to bolster his squad with a new centre-forward in the winter window.
