Chelsea are ready to battle with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer of Brentford striker Ivan Toney, according to the Mirror.

Toney will have just 18 months left in his Brentford contract in January and Brentford will demand £60million for the transfer of the striker.

Chelsea see Toney as a player that will add goals, assists and physical presence to Chelsea’s attack.

Toney, who does not turn 28 until next March, returned to training this week having served half of his eight-month ban for breaching strict FA rules on gambling. The England international will not be able to play again until January.

Toney is open to leaving Brentford in January and have switched agents to join Jonathan Barnett’s CAA Stellar Group, who have an A-List client base and have overseen deals for the likes of Jack Grealish and James Ward-Prowse.

Toney is intelligent with his link-up play, provides goals and assists. Chelsea have been playing well but have lacked a goalscorer.
