Transfer expert reveals Chelsea’s plan for January transfer window

Contrary to expectations, Chelsea have had a rough kick off to the 2023/24 season, which has seen us claim just five points from five Premier League games so far.

This has raised questions as regards the team’s attackers,  and the possibility of needing another striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that it is currently too early to know if the Blues will sign a new striker in the upcoming January transfer window to increase attacking options. Romano added that “for now they are saying” that their focus is on the current squad.

The journalist emphasises that the Blues are keen on protecting summer signing Jackson, who has only scored one goal so far this season and was poor during the goalless draw against Bournemouth. He claims that the London side are ready to trust the new striker.

Romano however adds that Chelsea believe that the return of Christopher Nkunku from injury will be instrumental in helping improve Jackson’s form.

The Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino was impressed with how well the two new signings linked up in pre- season and believes the striker needs someone like Nkunku who can help create space for him and set up chances with his creativity.

According to reports, Chelsea do not seem to have a definitive plan for the January window yet, but the club expects that the return of Nkunku will help unlock the potential of Jackson – and fire the London club further up the league table.
