According to reports, Mauricio Pochettino’s side attempted a shocking summer move for Newcastle player Guimaraes.

CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs has made a bold claim that the Blues wanted to sign Bruno Guimaraes before the close of the summer transfer window.

In an attempt to remobilise the squad, Chelsea made big moves during the summer, including huge fees for Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.

Guimaraes was a top priority for the Blues central midfield,  but the Brazilian was fully involved in Newcastle’s plans as they play the Champions League this season.

For Pochettino, the big job on his hand will be to integrate the new signings, and quickly too.

There have been signs of promise this season, but it has been shaky as well.
