Moises Caicedo snubbed a move to Liverpool and joined Chelsea instead from Brighton in a deal worth £115million including add-ons.
The Ecuador international made his Chelsea debut in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham, coming off the bench in the 61st minute.
Unfortunately for him, 33 minutes after coming on, he gave away a costly penalty that allowed Lucas Paqueta to wrap up a 3-1 win for the Hammers.
Taking to social media, one Liverpool fan wrote: “Thank God he didn’t come to Liverpool cause I don’t understand how an average player like caicedo cost £115m.”
Another said: “I’d say it’s a shame as a fan of him but as a Liverpool fan, I’m very pleased.”
A third Reds’ supporter said: “Caicedo deserves this for all the pain he made us Liverpool fans feel.”
Another added: “This has been an absolute disasterclass of a debut for Caicedo,” before one final fan said: “After that performance from £115m Caicedo me and Liverpool fans are sleeping well this night.”
