Chelsea should have signed new Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya instead of signing Robert Sanchez from Brighton this summer, according to Owen Hargreaves.

“Anyone that has played with a goalkeeper knows they’re different,” Hargreaves said. “David Raya is an amazing goalkeeper, his ability with his feet is that of a top-four goalkeeper all day.

“Ramsdale had a little blip towards the end of last season, a tiny one. Everyone respects he’s done an amazing job, but why shouldn’t he have competition? I think he’s a top four goalkeeper.

“I’m just amazed Chelsea didn’t go for him, because I think they’re the ones who needed him badly.”

He added: “The only worry I have for Chelsea is Sanchez the goalkeeper. I know he’s a good goalkeeper but they lost two good ones in Kepa and Mendy.

“They’re defintiely not better than they were and I think the goalkeeper position they look a little bit light there.”
