Newcastle United didn’t sign this Chelsea star because he was too expensive

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United were interested in signing Axel Disasi before he left Monaco for Chelsea this summer.

Newcastle United reportedly didn’t sign the France international because he was considered too expensive.

Romano told Caughtoffside: “For Newcastle, a centre-back is the next position they will try to add to. There is no clarity yet over a final name, but they have a list with many players on it.

“The club were looking at Axel Disasi for some time but he was too expensive and joined Chelsea.”

Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco this summer in a deal worth £38million.
