Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is in talks to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia and Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to the Times.

Boehly is ready to spend big to beat Liverpool to the signing of both midfielders this summer.

Chelsea have submitted a bid in excess of £50 million for Lavia while also attempting to stop Liverpool completing a British-record deal for Caicedo.

Chelsea’s co-owners Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have taken charge of negotiations to sign Caicedo from Brighton.

Liverpool have had an offer of £111million for Caicedo accepted by Brighton and Chelsea are now ready to match Liverpool’s offer for the midfielder.

Caicedo has also informed Liverpool that he isn’t interested in joining them, with the midfielder preferring a move to Chelsea.
