Chelsea have put together a shortlist of alternatives to Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to the Times.
Chelsea have had three bids for Caicedo rejected by Brighton, with the latest worth £80 million.
According to the Times, the Blues are weighing up other target after Brighton rejected Chelsea’s offer for Caicedo, with Southampton midfielder Roméo Lavia, Leeds United’s Tyler Adams, Ajax’s Edson Álvarez and Gabri Veiga of Celta Vigo under consideration.
Adams captains the United States and is believed to have a £20million relegation clause in his contract, which became active when Leeds dropped into the Sky Bet Championship last season.
That would be something of a bargain compared to the prices Chelsea have been quotes for other targets, with Southampton wanting £50m for Romeo Lavia.
Ajax midfielder Alvarez – who the Blues actually bid for unsuccessfully a year ago – is likely to command a fee of around £40m.
