According to the Athletic, Chelsea have reached an agreement in principle with Monaco for the signing of Axel Disasi.

Chelsea have reportedly reached an agreement with Monaco to sign the 25 year old France international defender in a deal worth €45million (£38m).

The 25-year-old will provide Chelsea with an option as a right-sided centre-back.

Chelsea have been hit with an injury to Wesley Fofana that is likely to keep him out for a considerable period of time.

Disasi, who also attracted interest from Manchester United, was part of the France squad at the 2022 World Cup and made three appearances in Qatar.

Disasi moved to Monaco from Reims in 2020 for €13million.
