Liverpool legend Graeme Souness doesn’t believe Chelsea doing better next season than we did last season despite appointing Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea boss.

Chelsea finished the 2022/23 Premier League campaign in 12th place, capping off a disastrous first full season under the ownership of Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Speaking to Sky Bet Fan Hope Survey, Graeme Souness said: “It’s a very difficult job for the manager at Chelsea this year.

“I look at that club, and the direction they’ve gone — it just seems to be a mismatch of players that were available and very expensive.

“Chelsea was paying a premium, because of their reputation and standards. I don’t see them doing any different than they did last year.”
