According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Brazilian midfielder Andrey Santos now has a UK work permit which allows him to play for Chelsea next season.

He also adds the FA recently eased the criteria for clubs to sign overseas talent. If the new rules were in place when Chelsea signed Santos in January, the Brazilian would have been able to play for Chelsea last season.

Jacobs tweeted: “Can confirm Andrey Santos now has a UK work permit allowing him to play for Chelsea next season. Santos previously missed out on obtaining one by a single point, but has now been approved by The FA.

“The FA recently eased the criteria for clubs to sign overseas talent. Santos would have got a work permit in January when he signed had rules been relaxed back then.”
